An elegant and warm sweater, worked from the top down, where the neck and yoke are worked in brioche stitch in one piece. Increases are made over the shoulders in brioche stitch. The front and back pieces are knit separately, flat, in stockinette stitch. Below the armhole, the back and front pieces are joined to form the body, which is worked in the round on circular needles in stockinette stitch. The hem is worked in brioche stitch. Stitches are picked up for the sleeve, which is worked in the round in stockinette stitch on circular needles and finished with a brioche stitch edge. The sweater has an oversized fit with a positive ease of about 15-30 cm [6-12 inches].
Sizes: XS-S (M-L) XL fits chest measurements of approx. 80-90 (90-105) 105-115 cm [31½-35½ (35½-41½) 41½-45¼ inches].
Gauge: 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] = 12 sts x 18 rows in stockinette stitch on needle size 8 mm [US 11/UK 0] and 11 sts x 30 rows in brioche stitch on needle size 7 mm [UK 2](note: 30 rows in brioche stitch are counted as 15 knit sts).
Needles: Needle 7 mm [UK 2] (40 cm and 60/80/100 cm [16 inches and 24/32/40 inches]) and needle 8 mm [US 11/UK 0] (40 cm and 60/80/100 cm [16 inches and 24/32/40 inches]).
Yarn: 100 (100) 125 g Silk Mohair by Isager (25 g = 212 m [232 yds], color 34 for the brown and color 2 for the beige), held together with 200 (200) 250 g Tweed by Isager (50 g = 200 m [219 yards], color Walnut for the brown and color Oak for the beige) and 350 (400) 450 g LAMATWEED by CamaRose (50 g = 100 m [109 yds], color 6412 Chestnut brown for the brown and color 6170 Granite for the beige). Note: Three strands of yarn are held together throughout.
Yarn alternative: Silk mohair from other brands can be used, held together with eg. 1 strand of Baby Merino by Drops and 1 strand of Soft tweed by Drops.
