An elegant sweater, worked from the top down, where the neck and yoke are worked in brioche stitch in one piece. Increases are made over the shoulders in brioche stitch. The front and back pieces are knit separately, flat, in stockinette stitch. Below the armhole, the back and front pieces are joined to form the body, which is worked in the round on circular needles in stockinette stitch. The body is finished with a wide ribbed hem. Stitches are picked up for the sleeve and worked in the round in stockinette stitch. The sleeve is finished with a ribbed edge. The sweater has an oversized fit with a positive ease of about 15-25 cm [6-10 inches].
Sizes: XS (S) M (L) XL (XXL) fits chest measurements of approx. 80-85 (85-90) 90-95 (95-100) 100-110 (110-120) cm [31½-33½ (33½-35½) 35½-37½ (37½-39½) 39½-43¼ (43¼-47¼) inches].
Gauge: 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] = 18 sts x 26 rows in stockinette stitch on needle size 5 mm [US 8/UK 6] and 18 sts x 50 rows in brioche stitch on needle size 4.5 mm [US 7/UK 7](note: 50 rows in brioche stitch are counted as 25 knit sts).
Needles: Circular needle 5 mm [US 8/UK 6] (40 cm and 80/100 cm [16 inches and 32/40 inches]) and circular needle 4.5 mm [US 7/UK 7] (40 cm and/or double pointed needles and 80/100 cm [16 inches and 32/40 inches]).
