This free baby blanket knitting pattern uses unspun Plötulopi (Ístex) and guides you through a cozy, textured baby blanket in brioche stitch. The pattern is available as a downloadable PDF in English and Danish and is perfect for knitters who want to practice brioche knitting and working with unspun yarn.

A beautiful and warm Icelandic brioche baby blanket worked in brioche stitch. The brioche texture creates a lovely three-dimensional structure, making the blanket both extra warm and airy. It can be used as an additional insulating layer under the baby on the mattress, or as a cozy layer over the duvet. Perfect for the cold winter months.

Yarn, gauge and needles:

  • Gauge: 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] = 8 stitches x 20 rows in brioche stitch on 9 mm needles [US 13/UK 00].
  • Recommended needles: Circular needles: 9 mm [US 13/UK 00] (Length: 80/100 cm [32/40 inches]).
  • Yarn: 300 g Plötulopi by Ístex in color 1425 Pink (100 g = approx. 300 m [328 yds]). Note: Three strands are held together.
