The Alhambra sweater is a classic Fair Isle–inspired sweater designed to be worked using leftover yarn. The expression can vary from colorful to more subdued depending on the color choices. The sweater is constructed from the top down. Stitches are cast on for the back, which is worked back and forth. Stitches are then picked up for the left front, which is worked back and forth and shaped with decreases and increases. The same is repeated for the right front. The fronts are joined, after which front and back are joined and the work continues in the round until the body is complete. The body is finished with ribbing. Stitches are picked up for the sleeves, which are worked in the round and finished with ribbing. Finally, stitches are picked up for the neckline, which is worked in the round in rib. The pattern includes guidance on combining leftover yarn in terms of both color and yarn thickness. The sweater may also be worked entirely or partially in new yarn.

Sizes: XS-S (M-L) XL (XXL) fits bust measurements of approx. 80–90 (90–100) 100–110 (110–120) cm [31½–35½ (35½–39¼) 39¼–43¼ (43¼–47¼) inches].

Gauge: 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] = 19–20 sts x 22 rows on 4.5 mm [US 7/UK 7] needles in stranded colorwork.
